Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

Entry Requirements

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • Proof of age – must be 14 years or over.
  • Valid working email address.
  • Points of current and valid identification (including Photographic ID). You will be provided with an Evidence of Identification Checklist (EOI) to complete on enrolment see at SafeWork NSW.
  • Physical capacity to demonstrate the correct donning and removing of PPE for assessment.

This course MUST be delivered in New South Wales only. Students undertaking this course must be a resident of the state in which the course is being undertaken.

Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

Are there physical requirements for this course?

It is important to note that there are physical standards which relate to the level of performance required when undertaking accredited training. One requirement of the training package is that you are to be assessed as physically capable of donning and removing PPE correctly.

There can be no exceptions to these Australian Government requirements that are clearly written into the Training Package. Therefore, students who are unable to satisfy the physical requirements of the course cannot be deemed competent or issued with a statement of attainment, even if the qualification is a necessary part of their employment conditions.

Assessment Activities

Assessment of this unit consists of three assessment tasks:

Answering a series of multiple choice and short answer written questions.

Answering a series of short answer oral questions.

Observation of learners demonstrating the correct fitting of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • eye protection
  • hearing protection
  • hard hat
  • high visibility retro reflective vest
  • dust mask.

    Assessor records all results of the assessment in the compulsory mandated assessment document provided by SafeWork NSW 


    Does the White Card Expire?

    There is no expiry on the NSW White Card License. However, it is advised you to need to maintain currency through employment and practice of WHS Requirements.

    Will my White Card be recognised in other states?

    Safework NSW White Card is recognised and accepted across all Australian States and Territories. Therefore, you only require the one White Card no matter where you are working.

    I have lost my Blue Card can I get a replacement NSW White Card?

    The Blue Card is no longer available and cannot be issued by RTO’s. Therefore, if you lose your Blue Card you will need to redo the course and upgrade to a national White Card.

    If I have a Blue Card Do I need White Card?

    All previous State issued cards are still valid including the Blue Card, Red Card and Green Card. Hence, you do not need to obtain a NSW White Card if you can demonstrate currency and hold one of the above cards.

    Is there an age limit to completing the course?

    Anyone over the age of 14 can complete the course. In addition, there are also mandatory identification requirements included. Please get in touch to get more information.

    What employment areas require a WhiteCard?

    Currently work in, or want to gain employment in, any (but not excluding), the following areas, therefore you need a NSW White Card before you can enter any construction work site:

    Who needs a White Card?

    To work on a construction site in Australia it is compulsory for everyone to hold a current Occupational Health & Safety Construction Induction Certificate, commonly known as a ‘White Card’. In other words, a White Card is a requirement under WHS Codes of Practice across most jurisdictions. It allows individuals to access or be present on construction sites.

    Can I complete the white card course if I live overseas?

    As a result, you will need to complete the full course once you arrive in Australia.
    You need to hold a working visa and have a residential address in Australia.
